Counselling and You

Can I help you?

I work on a one-to-one basis with clients from central locations in Oxford and Witney.  I am experienced in working with:

abuse (domestic or sexual), anger, anxiety and stress, bereavement and loss, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, trauma, work-related stress

Counselling will offer you time and space that is separate from your everyday life: a time and space that is set aside just for you, in a quiet and confidential setting where you can voice your concerns (and hopes) and where they will be heard without interruption and without judgment.

Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, the relationship that develops between you and your counsellor is key to a successful outcome. By means of this relationship an environment is created where you feel secure enough to talk through difficult feelings. Your counsellor listens and tries to get a sense of your experiences. Discussing these with you helps you to understand why you are experiencing these difficult feelings. This understanding makes it possible to look at how you can make the changes in your life that you are seeking—whether that is to do with how you feel about things or about the way you behave.

The process is not necessarily an easy one but having the motivation and courage to try is an important first step.

The next step

· After your first enquiries by phone or email the next step is to arrange an initial assessment session. In this we discuss the issues that are troubling you and what you hope to achieve from counselling.

· If we agree that we can work together, a set time for subsequent sessions will be arranged.  Day and evening sessions are available.

· Sessions will usually take place on a weekly basis and last for 50 minutes.

· Sessions are either on an open-ended basis or for a fixed term (minimum of 6 sessions).

The costs

· Preliminary enquiries—free.

· Initial assessment session—£25. No obligation.

· Further sessions - £45—£50 (concessions possible).

Accessibility

· Online counselling via Skype is available.

· Home visits can be arranged where there are mobility difficulties.
